You need to have both done before applying at the licensing authority. We recommend one of our partner opticians on Wilhelmstraße (eye test, 5 min) and the DRK Tübingen (first-aid course, 1 day).
You submit the application at the Tübingen licensing authority, or we do it for you. Processing takes 4 to 8 weeks. You can use this time fully for theory and your first driving lessons.

At the TÜV-Süd test centre in Tübingen. 30 questions, multiple choice, in German or one of 13 languages. Pass with 10 error points or fewer.
First driving lessons around town, then the 12 mandatory special drives (5 rural roads, 4 motorway, 3 night). You decide the number of driving lessons together with your driving instructor. No contract commitment.
TÜV-Süd test centre Tübingen. You drive for 55 minutes with an examiner. Your driving instructor sits in the car with you.
You get a provisional licence immediately. The plastic card arrives by post after 2 to 4 weeks.
